The hotel, located in a beautiful village setting, offers a mixed experience with wonderful service but outdated rooms in need of refurbishment. The location is great for exploring East Lothian and beyond, but be ready for some hilly terrain. The dining options are varied and enjoyable, perfect for a good start to the day with a traditional breakfast. The facilities could use some modernization.

The rooms overlooking the village green were spacious but desperately need refurbishment. The large, dark furniture made the room feel cramped and some items seemed unnecessary. Unfortunately, the room got quite cold in the early morning hours.

The service here is exceptional, from the friendly morning team at breakfast to the helpful staff carrying our luggage and accommodating special dietary needs. We were so impressed that we've already made a booking for next year.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, though there were challenges with certain maintenance issues. The location was most comfortable, down smaller roads but near Edinburgh and North Berwick, perfect for exploring. The dining experience varied with low-quality items but well-cooked dishes. Overall, it's a decent pick for the price.
